The department of B Tech Chemical Engineering was started in the year 1965 with the assistance of UNESCO. The programme is offered by National Institute of Technology Surathkal and it allows an intake capacity of 46 seats by (AIEEE) and 6 seats by (DASA). The department has a team of well qualified and talented faculty members and Dr. Vidya Shetty (associate professor) is leading the department as the head since 1st September, 2012. The course is spread into eight semesters. The department arranges workshops, seminars and guest lectures from time to time. The institute also welcomes students from abroad.
